Mr. Stone’s interest in photography dates back to high school when he was given a used and very basic 35mm single lens reflex film camera. Over the years the equipment has changed, but the desire to find beauty in unexpected and unnoticed places has continued to be a driving force in his photographic work.
Mr. Stone has exhibited photographs in numerous shows, including the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts Regional Arts Exhibition, were he has received the Martha DesPres Award, the Wendy and Edgar Marty Photography Award, and the City of Grand Rapids Purchase Award; the Muskegon Museum of Art Michigan Regional Exhibition, where he has received the William Rogers Best Photography Award, the John Kadelsik Purchase Award and the Patrick O’Leary Purchase Award; and the Grand Rapids First United Methodist Church Celebration of the Arts, where he has received the People's Choice Award.
Although Mr.Stone's earlier photographs were created using film, he converted to digital media over eleven years ago. The photographs on this web site are a combination of film and digital media. All photographs are archival inkjet prints using Epson professional printing processes.
